I picked this 67 beetle up a couple of weeks ago. It's been stored at my dad's since then. I'm going to pick it up and bring it home in a little while. I'll be posting pics this afternoon.

It is fairly solid. It needs passenger side floor pan, some spots on the heater channels, spare tire tray, and rear parcel tray repaired. Other than those few items, it's pretty solid. The cool thing about it is, it's unmolested and all original. All the fenders, doors, decklid and front hood are original to the car and it looks as if the bumpers and engine are too. Plans are to lower it with dropped spindles and discs up front and one click in the rear. Do the rust repairs and drive it.

Those '67 front fenders are hard to find in good shape, there are a lot of junk copies out there. Plus with all the other '67 only parts, you got a nice unmolested driver there

Well, I cranked the old girl up this evening. She was pouring gas out of the fuel line below the tank and out the carb. She was also pouring oil out from under the shroud. Looks like I'll be pulling the engine this weekend.

Yeah Bob, Hopefully I can get it finished before Y U Buggin weekend. I have to pull the top side of the engine apart to find the oil leak and get new bearings for the disc brakes and get the battery tray, at the very least patched up enough to take it down there.

I had a little help tonight and got the top side of the engine torn down. What we found was the oil cooler only had 1 nut on it and the wrong seals in place. I got it all stuck back together. So, maybe tomorrow I can get some gas back in it and crank it again. Drew got the spindles and disc setup put on, also. I can't wait to have my own VW running and driving again.

Me too. I cranked it up again last night and got the same oil pumping out from under the shroud problem. So back to the drawing board. Got to pull the shroud back off and change the cooler back out.

After replacing the brake line today (big thanks to Clyde for the part and to all that helped me out getting it in). I got to get Bonnie out on the track. But, when I got off the track I had spun my generator and shorted out the hot wire to the gen. The fan apparently is bad causing a bad vibration which loosened the bolts holding the backing plate to the shroud allowing it to spin. The wire shorting out got my battery hot enough to melt the negative post in the battery (that I just bought yesterday). When I tried to pull the cable loose, the post pulled up through the top of the battery. But, even with all the trouble I had fun today getting to drive my OWN VW to an event, in over a year.
