Kip, she said the pics should be fine to blow up, I'll make you a disc and mail it.

I'll get a link to the bucket when I get home, or trace it through the url in the posted pics.

Runs good. He drove it from s.c. to mall of ga and i drove it home. It has a lot of low end power. Im going to dump it and i think im going flat tan or flat brown. It was hit in the right side and the repair is shotty. Im going to cut the rocker/heater channel out repull the door post and replace the channel. Its got a little rust but not bad.

this is getting over my head now.

what is the signifigance of the 36 hp shroud?

what is the doghouse oil cooler? If I am understanding things correctly it will be mounted inside the doghouse.

A doghouse cooler is offset so all the hot air dosnt go right over the 3rd cylinder and I just like the look of the early shrouds

yep a doghouse style cooler is just more efficient and all that jazz. it just makes sense to swap to one if you're building a new engine i just did the same thing and put a doghouse set up on mine. and yes a 36er shroud is just an aesthetic thing

Above is a doghouse style fanshroud

above is a doghouse cooler if you look at it you can see that it's set back to allow more air to flow over the cylinders without getting heated up after going through the oil cooler.

above is a 36 horse style shroud

an aftermarket 36 shroud has far less cooling, and no provision for flaps. i've had 2 motors with 36hp shrouds, and on both motors, they always ran a lot warmer, then when i put a stock shroud on it. if you drive your dub everyday, then i'd go with a stock shroud. if its just a weekend warrior, then the 36er shroud does look a lot nicer.

It also has no provisions for flaps. even if you don't have a thermostat u should still have a set of flaps wired open, as the flaps help direct air towrds the heads. Also don't forget the hoover bit either Wink .
