New Guy in Hampton
Hey guys.... another Newcomer... Just picked up a 71 Standard Beetle Last Saturday.... (been itching since i sold the '77 Bay window a couple years ago) would love to get connected with some local Vdubbers.... Also since i'm new to the beetle scene, i have TONS of questions... First of all... anyone know of a good shop/mechanic on the south side of ATL? Gotta Oil leak and would love someone who knows better to take a look. Hope to see you guys around!

Re: New Guy in Hampton
I could probably take a look at the leak for you. If you are looking for a good mechanic get a hold of doodlebug on here. He is out in Covington. Our club meets at Sonic in McDonough...come on out we would be glad to have you!
Re: New Guy in Hampton
Yeah, i'd love to come out.... let me know when the next meet is and i'll do my best to make it....
As far as the leak... i'm sure you know more than me, so i'll take whatever help i can get!

Re: New Guy in Hampton
Welcome aboard. If you're in Hampton, there's a good chance you've seen my '67 lime green bus rolling around. Our meets are normally on the second Saturday of every month @ Sonic in McDonough. This month, however, most of us will be in Reynolds, GA for a show/race that takes place on the 12th/13th. It'll be a good place to introduce yourself and pick up some knick knacks for the bug. Welcome to tag along with some of us who are headed down on Sat or Sun. I'll be headed down Sunday morning with my dad. We'll be meeting @ McD's where 19/41 split off in Griffin.

Welcome to the site. Oil leaks can be annoying, but most of them can be fixed with just some new seals. Just got to find the source of the leak!

start by checking the push-rod tubes and the valve cover gaskets.

Re: New Guy in Hampton
Thanks Guys.... seems like a good bunch of People .... Think i'm gonna like it around here
BumbleBuggy i have seen you a time or two, always admired the Bus... one day i will have another one....
I think i might pack the wife and kids up on sunday and head down to Reynolds but don't think i'm gonna drive the Bug... Would love too but the wife doesn't like the smell (alittle exhaust never hurt anyone right ). So If i get the chance to recognize anyone i'll try to introduce myself... Looking forward to the next sonic meet...

Re: New Guy in Hampton
Just crack the windows on the drive down and take an extra quart of oil. If you roll with us, you'll have some support in the event of any mishaps. Nice semi-long drive to get a feel for the old bug. Wife can follow you in the daily driver.

Don't be shy stop someone at Reynolds and ask who they are. I'm sure you will find us all standing together at Glenn's "Good Times Bus" at some point!
