so i have been noticing a grinding noise coming from the fan shroud and i took the belt off and ran it and it wasnt there so is the fan warped from the fire or the shroud or the alt backing plate. how do i determine what is the issue. also when i pull the shroud towards me while running it goes away.

Sounds like your fan shroud got a little tweaked. You could pull the fan apart and re-shim it, but I have had success just "re-tweaking" with a rubber hammer sometimes.......... Wink

Also, check both the screws on the sides that attach the shroud to the cylinder tin. They may have came loose and that will make it start hitting sometimes as well.

You can also loosen the gen/alternator clamp and using a screwdriver move the gen/alternator 1/8" forward or backwards and it will sometimes work.
