Wheel alignment

Does anyone know the best place in Atlanta to get the an alignment? I spoke with a couple of places but they were saying they would need to get the manufacturers specs.

I've used the method in the "How to keep your Volkswagen alive" manual to get close enough to drive. Then took it over to Sears who said it was already in spec.

If you want to try that method, I recommend getting two $1 yard sticks from the paint department at Home Depot. Then loosely overlay them with a couple of wire ties. Then adjust until you get about the same measurement at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock when measuring from inside the left wheel to inside the right wheel. In the end the it should toe in about 2 to 3 mm - I think. The manual has the exact measurement.

I called Bobby and he gave me the number for Mobley Tires in Decatur.
The guys there were fantastic and fit me in with not too much of a wait.
I would strongly recommend them to anyone when having your alignment done as the service was top notch.

Driving there was a different matter though! It was a bit hairy to say the least. I found the the Ghia wasn't quite wide enough to sit in the channels of dry tarmac without running on the ice.
Scary shit in places. I mean Ponce de Leon is a major route. Why does it still have 4"of piled ice and snow on it 5 days later?

Yeah, I was down on Ponce yesterday, and it was more than a little hairy............it was downright dangerous!! Glad to hear you made it to the shop and back without incident!

Because both of the snow removal trucks were elsewhere :-)
