Re: 74 bus "playmate"
Well its the first for me but not the first for the bus it actually ripped the previous repair as the bumper dug all the way through to the battery tray, funny thing is I never saw what I hit I actually got out about to appologize to someone because I assumed it was a car, but know one was there and thats the first I saw the polefluxcap wrote:Wow, that one got you good! Re: 74 bus "playmate"
I got my first one out of the way long time ago in my old 77. Was leaving the dentist and they had a retaining wall along the sidewalk. The bottom three layers of the wall stuck out a lot further than the top three layers. Unfortunately, all I saw out my back window was the upper layers which ended a good two feet before the lower layers. Thought I had plenty of room......CRUNCH!

Re: 74 bus "playmate"
I have been hunting a rear bumper with no success but the bumper is the least of my worries the bumper is actually imbedded in the quarter panel, I wonder if the early bay rear bumper that comes around the quarter panel more will fit/cover the damage?DOODLE BUGG wrote:time to find a crome rear bumper now

Re: 74 bus "playmate"
No doubt! I do have some beautiful mirrors and they work great except to see a pole that is a foot lower than the window and about two feet to the middle from where the mirror can see, and the OG back up camera was not working that dayzabo wrote:

Re: 74 bus "playmate"
I am struggling with what to do with the damage done to the rear quater panel, and the crappy paint job on this bus, I am not a body man nor can I afford to have the right person fix it, so I am thinking about doing the faux patina, until I can afford to do the paint and body right, all the panels are very wavy and even though the photos look good, all those have seen it up close will agree the body work was not done well. Please let me know what yall think and what would be the best method to take care of my problems.

Re: 74 bus "playmate"
I think it's pretty much a requirement for bays to have some damage on the battery tray. Just do your best to patch it and blend in the paint.
Re: 74 bus "playmate"
Beat it out and glass the back side then use filler. Not the right way but it will be solid and pretty easy to do and fix later
