Got Mileage? Empty Got Mileage?

Post by rpm750 Thu Jan 22, 2009 7:48 pm

I've put around 1100 mls on my car since Insuring and Tagging it. I've also been keeping up with my fuel mileage. I checked it today and its up around 27mpg. I had checked it with the 30/31 carb I had and it was 24mpg.
I've been over to the miata.net Tire Calculator Site and it says that my tire size is about 6.5% too fast. I've tried to take this difference into consideration. Is this 6.5 mls per 100 mls driven? I've taken this amount off any total mileage and then figured the mileage. If this is not correct then my mileage is even higher!

So whats your Mileage?

Got Mileage? Empty Re: Got Mileage?

Post by bumblebuggy Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:08 pm

Probably have 30+K on my bus since it hit the road a couple years ago. Finally got a working speedo just before Bulli this year. I checked it against my GPS and it's almost dead on as far a speed goes. Just the luck of the draw considering my tire size up front. I did the calculations for the trip to Florida and I averaged 29mpg. In town I've been getting about 26mpg.

Running a 1600dp with a ten year old 34 and a 009.

Put 270 miles on the bug this weekend and went through 10.324 gallons. A little over 26 mpg. 1776 with a 34 pict 3. Better than I thought I was doing.

18-20 in the Bus (1800)

"Wow that's great and good for the environment"

Yeah but my carbon emissions are that of a poorly tuned, 8cyl, 11mpg, Chevy C Van!

I filled mine up last week witht he goal of driving it every day 'til the tank was almost empty in order to check the mileage. So far I'm at half a tank having driven 125 miles. I'll know for sure when I fill up after work but I'm guessing a littel over 20 MPG.
And as far as carbon emmisions go I reinstalled all the California Emissions stuff too. So she should be pretty "green" too.

i calculated my MPG like two days ago, and i was getting about 30.5MPG suprisingly. That was with very easy driving, and staying at a steady 50mph on the street. but before when i drove it hard, and doing burnouts, and everything, i got it as low as 15mpg Laughing . The way you drive makes a HUGE difference. I wonder what i'll get if i slap on another IDF geek

Those tires you put on there are going to help with the MPG.
Just so you know, that is pretty good for a Westie.
My FI '76 used to average 23, and I got around 23-24 with the '70 model Westie.
The '76 was alot heavier.

Thats good to know. I wasn't sure what the baseline was.
I'm lovin' the tires. They make a big difference in the handling.

Exactly. it doesn't matter what motor, or mods you have. if you drive like a maniac, you'll never get good MPG. I believe in my case, my gas mileage can fluctuate greatly, because if i stomp on it, i got it down to 15, but if i drive nice and easy, i got 30. And with my motor, it has so much power, i just have to bearly touch the throttle for it to go up hills easily, versus my old 1600, i pretty much have to floor it, and still had to downshift on the same hill, lol. so my thought is, because i bearly have to give it any gas, I get really good mileage.
