As with all of our bikes, the Suburban has (according to one website) "absolutely no value to collectors." But, of course, the point should be whether an old bike has value to its owner. This bike makes my wife happy, it's stylish as all get-out, and that's really what matters, isn't it?

thats at the end of the article...
i thought i got a deal haha but i like it sooo w/e

WOW That thing is clean!!!

I had a friend with a (70's?) Schwinn 10 speed- also extremely well cared for and maintained- very old school, and virtually "worthless to the collecter" Who cares, right? You, and my old friend aren't collecters- you use them!!! Go have fun, and look cool while doing it! Cool

I have an old Sears Spyder (like a stingray, but sears)
2 Raleigh Twenty's of the folding variety
Then I have a new GT Bike Kustom Kruizer or however they spelled it that is basically a really sweet new old looking beach cruiser.

There are some crazy Schwinn collectors out there, I found an old Schwinn bicycle lock at Goodwill, had never been opened. Bought it for a dollar, put it on eBay, and some crazy guy bought it for $171.00

I was shocked, figured I'd get $10 or $15 tops

You got a deal!! The old Schwinns, that have the label "Made in Chicago, Ill." are very desirable. A couple of years ago my wife bought an old Schwinn Breeze, (3 speed, same frame as the Suburban) at a garage sale for $5. I cleaned up the chrome and the bike and sold it on Craigslist for $100. AND I had a lot of e-mails and phone calls where if I would have had more of them, I could have sold several.

Many years ago, I came across an old bicycle frame out in the woods, it was missing alot of the parts (wheels, seat, etc.) but I did take the name plate off of it:

It is hard to get a good pic, but the plate is Arnold Schwinn & Co. Packard Chicago U.S.A.

I wonder if it is still out there in the woods??

You need to go back and see if that is still there.

I was afraid somebody was gonna say that. I do remember where it was, but that was probably 16 years ago and I would think that those woods were developed along time ago. There were the remains of two old 30's/40's cars in there as well. I pulled the rear seat out of one and found an old silver dime. I will have to ride by there sometime and see if the woods are still standing.

As for starting a thread about some of my stuff, I can do it pretty easily as a large part of it is already documented with pics for identification, research, etc. I can even throw some of my Civil War diggins in as well.

Yes, that was not by accident, but only a few people on here knew the reason for the name.

I have had a few old bikes, and still do. Have 2 old road bikes hanging in the out building now. yeah no resale value but cool as heck. just sold a 1962 Western Flyer tandem to Alex up at stockornaut awhile back, that was a friggin sweet bike!
But the picking and cool finds, a definate must. I am a yard sale/flea market/thrift store junkie. Those who have made it into the back end of the garage can tell you its like a museum. Everything from bikes, to cameras, to toys a lover of rusty stuff!
I started a thread on another site i frequent thats called thrift store finds, maybe we could get one going here. have found everything from 1/6 scale shwimminwagens, to a brand new commadore 64 in the box. hopefully I can get the stuff organized before I retire and start up an old geezer museum, admission price is a pack of smokes or a 6 pack!!! Very Happy
