i have no idea what i'm looking at from the pics, but i'm thinking its the rubber cracked in half. it look really rusty, so i'm guessing they are old. if they were dry (no oil), the rubber just got hard, and cracked. mos of the times tho, the rubber gets covered in oil, which causes them to get gooey, like jello, and they simply squish out, till there's nothing left. thats how the mounts were on my rail.

This will happen over time. Age , plus oil leaking will soften the rubber. The torque of the engine will out the stress on these and cause them to snap. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Were they oily? if so then thats your problem. Also were they from Brazil? If so search for a better brand . If they are oily then replace your seal in the engine (dont forget the O-ring in the flywheel) and the seal in the trans.

if it didn't have an o ring, didn't they have a gasket on those earlier models, between the flywheel, and crank, or something? or am i thinking of something else, lol?

cheers ...and the engines back in.

My wife was happy to get it out of the living room and back in the car-
Seems to be running ok but ive only driven down the street so far.

My 3 ton craftsman jack gave out on me today and due to my low funds i had to buy a cheap $20 jack at autozone.
Made the job a lot more challenging
