My "new" 1967 Datsun 520
Well in the mess to try and trade my Beetle, I got tired of dealing with the projects people were calling daily drivers. I Decided to find a cheap running project. Well after searching I saw this and had to get it.
It has a little rust probably less than any thing that was offered for my Beetle. The rockers and cab corners are solid.
This is some kind of custom brake light that is hooked to a house light switch to manually turn it on/off.
I just plan to fix the rust, bang out the dents, and give some sort of paint job. Probably that $20/quart base clear Autozone crap. I really do not want to spend much on it. I picked it up in Athens and drove it to Duluth. The carb hiccuped a few times but it runs strong. It only cost $400!! I really needed a truck and I think this will do it. It is really only a trash/home depot runner.

Cool. I had a 70 and 71 521. Never got either on the road. Sold them a few years back. The guy that has them now lives close (Warner Robins). If you need any parts, let me know and I will get you in touch with him.

I may need a hood. I know I need a front bumper. Might need fenders.

I will try to get in touch with the guy this week and see if he wants to get rid of some stuff. He has a running 520, so he has not done anything with the 521s as far as I know. Both are good parts trucks.

This one brings back memories....when I was a teenager still living at home, my dad had a little blue Datsun that we used to haul stuff to the dump.
You said you got it for 400.00? Looks like by my count there were nine pennies in the bed, so really it was just 399.91. Now thats a deal!!

I have not even got to the cab yet. So I am hoping to lower the price in the change I find there.

Last couple days I cut out the rusty drivers floor pan and replaced it. Sorry no pics but I am slow anyway and pictures make me even slower. I will try to post up pic of progress as I go along.

Re: My "new" 1967 Datsun 520
progress pics
Drivers side all done
Half way done with the passenger side.
Still have the floor pan to do. It is not real bad. I hope a couple patches will be good.
Took a couple things to work and sandblasted them.

Re: My "new" 1967 Datsun 520
We went and picked up a bus last week from a junkyard in Al and there were a few of those there. One looked amazing from the drivers side but was hit in the pass door. I was amazed that the interior and bes were in great shape. I am trying to get the guys # for some rabbit parts for a friend now. If you want it let me know and will pass it along.
