| Bryce, pull as much metal off that floor as you can. A buddy and I are going to roll out to Carolina to pick up a Bay in the next few days and the guy says it may need some floor patching. He's going to buy this one... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=824744Glenn _________________ Of course I drive it every day... and stop calling me Shirley.

| Going to visit my 'dub at the hospital tonight- she's running (possibly purring) again, so I guess I'll be starting to put her back together (woo-hoo ). She really hasn't had much excitment since BAP. It's been too long. Steve and Val didn't find any real damage anywhere, just some issues with a few pushrods ( whose been messin?), and dirty carbs ( ). |

| lol, thats happened to me. not sure why that happens, but i guess sometimes the paint is made wrong or something, cause sometimes paint will go on nice and smoothe, and others it will look like sand paper. Just take some fine sandpaper, and sand it down to smoothe it out. just keep getting finer and finer, and the bumps will go away. _________________ 61 Baja 952 Berrien Sand Rail unknown Sand Rail (GOT FOR FREE) Rusty beyond all repair Sand Rail 69 Baja (GOT FOR FREE) 1929 Mercedes benz kit car on 70 bug frame (GOT FOR FREE) 74 Super beetle: No longer turbo'd at the moment ...___ .(____) (O\ ! /O) ..ll......ll.............

Oh yeah, forgot about the water. guess i assumed that was a givin, lol. When it happenes to me i usually start with some 1000 grit (to get the bigger bumps out), then the 2000 grit to finish, all while wet-sanding. _________________ 61 Baja 952 Berrien Sand Rail unknown Sand Rail (GOT FOR FREE) Rusty beyond all repair Sand Rail 69 Baja (GOT FOR FREE) 1929 Mercedes benz kit car on 70 bug frame (GOT FOR FREE) 74 Super beetle: No longer turbo'd at the moment ...___ .(____) (O\ ! /O) ..ll......ll.............

| Broke it. Snapped the clutch cable in traffic. Tried to drive a bit without a clutch but too many red lights. Was planning on taking it off the road this weekend. Guess I have no choice now. _________________ Scott

Sorry to hear that, but at the same time I found it hilarious. I've been there too, not with a whole car, but with smaller parts. Always get the dang gnats.
Bryce, that stable is awesome!
Lowered the drivers side one outer notch. Was gonna go one inner, but finally got the spring plate separated from the torsion arm and did the outer instead. It was my first time doing this and took about 5.5 hours. But that included 1.5 hours of driving to/from Herrell to get some new bushings and about an 1 hour driving to /from home depot to get longer bolts for the spring plate cover. With the new bushing, I couldn't get the original shorter bolts to work, so I had to use the longer bolts first to get it tight, the replaced the longer bolts one at a time with the original short bolts. Overall it was about 3 hours of actual work. Now that I know what the heck I'm doing, I hope to have the passenger side down in about an hour and half tomorrow. We shall see! _________________ eric 1962 ragtop

did you use urethane knobby bushings? if so those damn thing never fit right, lol. GOTTA LOVE EMPI . also if you did use urethane, make sure to use the lube it comes with, or it will squeak. _________________ 61 Baja 952 Berrien Sand Rail unknown Sand Rail (GOT FOR FREE) Rusty beyond all repair Sand Rail 69 Baja (GOT FOR FREE) 1929 Mercedes benz kit car on 70 bug frame (GOT FOR FREE) 74 Super beetle: No longer turbo'd at the moment ...___ .(____) (O\ ! /O) ..ll......ll.............

Unfortunately, I did have to use the urethane bushings. I didn't want to, but I also didn't want to wait a week for rubber ones to arrive in the mail. Now that I know what I'm doing, it won't take long if I need to change them out in the future. Next time I do a mailorder, I plan to add rubber bushings to the order so I'll have them ready. _________________ eric 1962 ragtop
