Found this bus on the samba and craigslist. It was less than 20 minutes from the house so I figured I would check it out. After looking it over, me and p.o. (Brad) struck a deal and the bus was delivered the next day. Well after a quick scrub the respray color is coming back. It was originally green with a white top.

Only progress so far has been putting roller tire on, washing the outside and vacuuming the inside. Next is going to be a complete scrubbing of the interior. Then I am ...

Starting this thread up for a friend to start documenting the work he is doing on his car...

Here is the background story...

A good friend of mines wife was admiring my car and was reminiscing about a convertible she had in high school. She said she would like to have one again some day. So as I had been running across them, I was posting links to beetles for sale on her Facebook page. So her husband, my friend Emil, decided to give her what I think is the greatest Mother's ...

Hey folks!

I'm new to the site and new to VW's but I'm looking to break right in and get to know some other enthusiasts. I recently picked up a cobalt blue '70 Bug that I want to fully restore. I've been tracking my progress so far and as a new father that works full time I've had to become a weekend warrior but I'm proud of where I'm at so far.

Here are some pics of the car I got (for free) that I'm working on in Kennesaw. These of course were taken before washed it down, pulled ...

I have a 71 super beetle that i purchased for 800$ last december in running conditions with minor rust, well just in the usual battery area... here are some pics of the dub, from before, when i had to sand it down and treat the rust and Rattle can it to keep it from rusting and Now, that is painted a low gloss black many things have been done it as basic tune ups and such,

Thanks to the Athens club and their tech weekend, Volkstock III, I was able to finish the front suspension rebuild and lowering strut installation on my 71. I started the rebuild a while back and was documenting it in the detailed repairs forum but ran out steam on it. I think some pics were taken during Volkstock and I will add them to the other thread as soon as I have them. Overall the install went pretty well. 1970 Beetle p/o installed 1500cc single port instead of oe 1600cc single port (only year of the 1600 single port by the way) though i/ve heard the 1500cc single is a better motor anyway. Another interesting note is that 1970 was the only year with its taillight/engine lid combination. It is the only hardtop with a "convertible style" rear decklid (70-72? standard, 71-72? super, not sure what year they stopped)) as well as "small" triangle style taillights (68-70).
Ok, so if you have been on the Samba, you have seen ours, but I will post them on here anyway! The bug is mine. She is a 73. The bus is my husbands, and is a 70. The bug has a 1835cc with dual carbs, and the bus has a 1735cc. We are working on fixing them both up more.

Hi yall. Here is my 1929 mercedes benz kit on a 71 std. bug chassis. I have already taken the car apart (the easy part), and an now basically stripping all the rust, and painting. the body is fiberglass, so not much rust there . I'll let the pics do most of the talking.

Here's what it looked like when i got it (well, after taking some stuff off it), it came complete.

These Floor Pans came with the car, but i'm not sure if i want to use them or not, as i hate how thin ...

Here is my 1970 Volksrod Beetle

That is it as far as pictures go. I will try to get more soon.

This is what it looked like when I got it.

No that is not my bus.

First mod was to remove the crappy flames the p.o. was so proud of.

I love this shot

This one to.

The car was really to far gone to bring back to a stockish look. So I decided to Volksrod it.

This is my eBay Special. It looked super in this ad. The next picture is an example of what I found under the paint

Here she is now...

It is mostly done. I still have to work out some hinge issues (who da' thunk it ). The engine is a stock 1600DP, but with single quiet-pack exhaust and header. I also replaced the cheap 5" round air intake, with a K&N oval (RA-072V) designed for an Opel, but fits fine because no raintray.

Here are a few pics of my daily.

When I arrived in Atlanta a little over a year ago I went downtown and purchased a bed and a volkswagen. What more does a man need?

We have been to the lake.

We have been trainspotting.

We have braved the elements.

I got bored of the wheels and the ride height.

Just chillin in the woods last weekend.

Cheers.
