Well, I had the parts for a while now and am finally getting around to installing lowering struts and rebuilding the complete front suspension of the 71. The plan is to drop the front some and replace all the suspension parts to eliminate the shimmy I get around 45-50 mph.

Here are the components that will be installed:

I ordered the parts from Topline in California. http://www.toplineparts.com/ Pictured are the adjustable lowering struts, modified strut inserts, sport springs, ...

So I had a post about the 74-75 headbanger cabinet or the lack there of. I researched and received all kinds of ideas and my original assumption was correct, the 74 (early 75) did not have the above mentioned cabinet, just the 1/8" plastic hinge cover. So.............I decided to make one and here it is.

Brought to you by The New Redneck Workshop.

OK, the materials I used are:

1/2" particle board (I now recommend 1/2" MDF because of the porous nature of PB when ...

Well, someone else already did a little write-up about this on the Samba, but I thought I'd do one here for the locals. My car is now 12volts, but for the last few months I have not had wipers because I could never find a 12volt wiper motor and didn't really want to use a volt-a-drop. Someone on the Samba mentioned a while back that the rear window wiper motor from a Volvo will work in a VW. So the hunt was on. Came up empty at pull-a-part, but finally found a place in Atlanta (Howell Mill ...

#1 Tape off the entire inside of the window frame with a low adhesive, auto or painters tape. This will prevent the inevitable scratches.

#2 Pry out on the crank handle cover to release. You can use a screw driver but your fingers in the weakest "middle" section work just fine.

#3 Take out the center screw and remove the handle.

#4 Remove the two screws that secure the door handle, pull out slightly and twist inward to remove.

#5 Use a flat screwdriver to remove ...

I hate the 2, 3 and 4 page wiring diagrams so I have taken the time to perfectly join a few of them.

After I have them joined I take the file over to Kinkos and have them printed on 12 x 24

paper then laminated. Three hole punch one side of the 12, fold it twice on itself and you have a

full size pull out wiring diagram that you don't need a magnifying glass for. The lamination is great

because you can plan or make notes with a dry erase marker.
