I just got a linkpin beam from a 66-67 bus to install in my Bay window. (thanks skunk)
I already have a 6" linkpin narrowed beam installed on my Bay, but it is bare inside. I am going to install the trailing arms, bearings and linkpins from the donor one. My question is...How do I remove the bearings from the beam tubes? Do I need a special tool or do I just pry them out? I would like to re-use them for mock up purposes.
I also want to flip the linkpins to lower the front, How do I "flip them", If someone can give me detailed instructions it would be appreciated.

I am going to say but I am not for sure that you wont be able to use those bearings in the narrowed beam. You will need to buy some like this http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=576770

Here is what someone on the samba uses to remove the bearings. Works like a slide hammer

"I heavy peice of pipe, a length of threaded rod and some "Washers" made to fit the beam ID with the side shaved off so that they will slide to the inside of the bearing. Then slide the pipe just like a slide hammer and wala. "

Thanks Bryce, that is some good info. Flipping the linkpins looks like its going to take me some time, but it appears fairly simple. Did you use the same process for yours? With the beam bearings....well I am a little confused now, I will pm the guy how build my beam and ask him. I should have ask him before.

Yeah I used the same process. When you clearance the spindles just make sure you dont take too much material off. Also make sure you take the link pin caps off which mean you will have to take off less material than with them on.....

Well Bryce I have been doing some research and I am sure you are correct about the polyurethane bushings. I found this other ad which has a detail explanation.

The Bushings are made in a One piece mold that is liquid filled with a self lubricating polyurethane. Made in U.S.A.

Prefect for narrowing your 55-67 ONLY bus beam. Will also work in a stock beam.

This bushing will replace the inner and outer bushing and stock rubber grease seal.
For the later needle bearing arms you need to remove the sleeve on the trailing arm.

The guy did a complete new beam, so I guess this would replace everything inside the beam. In other words it is going to be much easier for me.
