Bob and I plan to be passing by Moreland around 8. I'll check the site in the morning, so if you plan on being at the gas station, let us know. If know one responds, we'll probably just pass on by and not exit, so let us know. Hope for decent weather!

Bob, Mike and I were on 285 when my drivers side wiper came loose and quit wiping. Exited at Hwy 78 and made it to a gas station. Fixed the wiper then thought about all the rain we had just driven through. Bob and I decided to turn back, it was just to nasty and the radar this morning looked like it would just keep coming. We waited til the rain let up a little and headed back, but it quickly started pouring again. My wipers suck bad, but luckily the water just beads up on the plexiglass. Laughing

Turbo Mike is a trooper! He decided to finish the ride and went on to the show. Hope he has a good time and others turn out.

My car is going to have to be a fair weather car for the time being until I can figure out were the gallons of water that made their way onto my floorboards came from. No Bob, you thought your leak was bad, when I pulled up my rubber mats, I about died. Spent 45 minutes wringing out my floor padding and getting everything dry. Think I'm just going to have to go around the inside and outside of the pan/heater channel mating surface with some sealer. The rubber gasket just doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

All in all, it was an adventure. A little over 100 miles in a downpour. I hope the show turned out good, but I just didn't want to go any further.

I've removed my floor carpet, both sides are wet. This is the first time that the drivers side has gotten this wet. But then again I don't think I've been out in this much rain fro this long. I will dip mine out and measure it for all of ya. I'm sure it is close to a gallon!! Evil or Very Mad

I think you are right Eric, I think the aftermarket gasket must not be thick enough. I would like to pick the body up enough to put sealer on top of the gasket and body to really seal it off.

Sorry that I didn't see your phone call, my phone is a POS!!!

That's hilarious...well not really, but kinda. Mine was about that same brown color as well. I have noticed just a faint wetness behind the drivers seat a few times after driving in light rain, but this stuff today was just everywhere on the drivers side and rear passenger side. The front passenger side stayed fairly dry.

No problem on the missed call. That was from when I had talked to Mike, I was gonna let you know why I was driving so slow since we were waiting for him to catch up (which didn't take long at all thanks to the turbo).

I'll see that 62 some other time Malik. I'm with you, I don't know if my car will be out again in rain like what we had today. I don't mind some showers, but we went through some pretty heavy stuff. On the plus side, the ragtop didn't leak a drop!

You guys need some beaters you can drive in the rain. Don't blame ya for tuning back today. No sense in driving to a show that's being rained out.

Hope the Chili kept some of the rain away.

PostSubject: Re: Bugs at the Branch 2   Sat Sep 19, 2009 5:13 pm

i had a great time at the show. bought a few things, and talked to a bunch of great people. also got to put some faces to usernames as well, lol.

BUT.

The real adventure didn't start for me on my way home. i left the show about 1:15 because i had to work today at 5pm. i had some lunch, and started down the highway. about 10 minutes down the highway i'm driving and happen to see far in the distance some cars (well just their taillights, through the rain), when all of a sudden, i see one pair of taillights go up and dissapear. when i get to where the car was, it turns out the car (some newer car, thunderbird? tarus?) had rammed into the gurter ( fence dividing north and south bound) and flipped over once and landed on its wheels Shocked . i pull over and the lady was still in the car. i had to yank on the door till i was able to bend the hell out of it, and get it open. but here's the kicker. THERE WAS A VERY YOUNG KID IN THE REAR (about 6years old). the car was completely destroyed, but the motor was still running (go figure). neither of them were hurt. not even a scratch. i think the lady was in shock, because i don't think she even knew what happend. They were incredibly lucky, because that could have ended so much worse. the cops came, and an ambulance. they shut down the whole south bound highway to let the paramedics come in. i took some pics of the car. i'll upload them later.

If you happend to leave the show and went down i-985 south, then you know why the traffic was so bad, lol.
