Aussie or flash trim, hence my comment above refering to an "aussie feel" to it. Wink This trim was a 50's - 60's option for the Australian market. Also the visors were really popular down under around the same time. Here is a little more info:

They were pretty much just an Aussie thing. I saw it on a bug featured in Volksworld earlier this year.. i had some
plastic / chrome strips in the garage and i just cut to size and stuck them on with contact glue, they were flexible
enough to bend the curves in. Then i masked up the checks and sprayed it up.

Wow! Homemade flash trim. Good job! cheers Looks like the real thing and for a lot less than an original set, if you could even find it. Cool
