Do you have a before picture of the bug?

Finally got some old pics scanned in. These were taken during the "tear apart" stage about 10 years ago. There was a coat of white and a coat of blue over the original turquoise. Oh, and a nice coat of rust was in there too Laughing . A few holes around the front and rear windows and hood area, but the rest of the rust in the pics wasn't quite at bad as it looks.

And here are a few pics after I tackled the body issues and was getting it ready for paint.

I've got some inbetween pics of the body and pan separated, but I need to keep digging to find those.

And here are a few of my older cars. The blue one is a 77 and the white one is a 67. The 77 was my first car. Drove it all through highschool and one year of college. Then my dad and I gave it a re-paint in preparation for selling it for an earlier bug. Bought the 67 and then sold the 77 a couple of weeks later for the exact same price I paid for the 67.

Fixing a few small rust spots before paint (Dad did most of the work, I just helped)

Primered and wet sanding

Here I am saying goodbye the day I sold it.

When I bought the 67, my dad went out and bought the 62 Ragtop posted above. We tore it apart and then it sat for about 2 years untouched. I was driving back and forth to Atlanta everyday for school and the 67 was letting me down alot. I needed a more reliable ride, but wanted to keep a VW. My dad and I worked out a deal. He bought me a more reliable car and gave me the 62 to work on, and I gave him the 67. A couple years later he found an old Chevy panel truck and the 67 was sold.

Would like to see some pics of the old chevy panel - my dad had one when I was a kid, I always loved that thing and wished he had kept it for me.

Bryce, the 67 was in awesome shape. My dad tells me all the time he wished he never sold it. I actually passed it in town about 3 months ago. Pulled a u-turn and caught up with the guy in the McDonalds drive-thru. Talked to him for about 30 minutes. He had bought it from the guys daughter we sold it to (the guy we sold it to had died and the daughter didn't want it). It still had the small dent in the drivers rear fender from where I backed in to a friends car once. He gave me his card and I gave him my number and told him to call if he ever sells it. I told him I would give him a call when I got my 62 running and we could cruise around town. Guess I need to dig his number out.

That panel is sweet - looks like the one my dad had - it was black with cragar S/S's on it - everyone rolled cragars back in the day.

A few new pics now that the front and rear are lowered.

Here it is with just the front lowered. I don't have a real good picture showing the gap between the rear fender and wheel, but if you've seen it in person, you know you could just about fit your head in there.

This picture kinda shows the gap better

Well I finally dropped the rear. Just one spline, so it's not slammed, but the gap is gone and the fender sits just below the top of the tire.

straight on shot
