I am not going to make it to the show but I am interested. What condition are the wheels in? Can you post pictures?

Thanks,

They are in good shape. I'll get them out and take some pictures.

Here is a picture of a '65 I had back when I was in the Army. I towed it to Atlanta from southern California when I got out an took a job at TBS in the fall of 2000. I sold it locally in the spring of 2001. I sometimes wonder what happend to it or if it still runs around. I put a rebuild transmission and a new 1600 DP engine in it right before I sold it. I love the wheels - I always thought they looked nice. The 5.5s fit the wider performance tires. The car hugged the road really well and handled like a dream.

I wish I would have kept it too. At the time I needed a car for the family and could take a loan because I was buying a house and had a morgage loan pending. I had to get a car without is showing up on the radar. I always figured I'd get another one.

The things I liked most about my old beetle was the pop-out rear windows and the porshe headlights. I'd like to do the same with my current beelte.

My wife and I attended a car show in Hiram this evening - I decided to show my car since it was free. Didn't win but got alot of interest and made alot of smiles. The is the first show my wife and I have attended participating in the show. We realized we need to bring chairs and refreshments next time. We are going to try to make the show in Dallas next weekend. Here she is at the show:

This is what won the people's choice award:

And this won the Mayor's choice award.

There was only one other VW in the show - a 1965 Buggy ownd by Ed. I refered him to the forum so we should see him soon. Here are pictures of his nice car - Kryptonite:

When I said Porshe headlights I was incorrect. When I was trying to find the headlights like I had on my old bug, I found that they are actually Rossi headlights. I found replicas at clip1 and ordered a set. If you look at this months So Cal Imports ad in Hot VWs, there are H4 headlights with a blue LED ring. I ordered a set of those.

Who put on the show in Dallas or Hiram?

I was not aware of one this past weekend.

No problem - I've been looking at tires that might fit.

Thanks,

I just realized I didn't answer your question.

It was put on by the City of Hiram. It was up on the electronic billboard at the park off 92 and where you turn into Hiram High School - however I didn't notice it up until the day off. They handed out fliers for another activity/car show next month what will have more to do for the family. I posted the flier under events.

Thanks,

I finally got the correct hood trim to match my Wolfsberg Chrest.

Replaced my broken horn ring with a new one and added a new horn button - light grey. I'm going to refurb the steering wheel later - and fill the cracks and chuncks and paint it ivory. Under the steering wheel is a tach. On the right grill is the air guage for the air suspension. On the right is an Alpine receiver I recently installed. I selected it because I like Alpine quality but mostly so I can leave my iPod in the glove box and control it through the front pannel.

Dude I really like your car but if it were me I would try and find matching dash grills. I think replacing the right one with one like the left one would make it look awesome.

Also where did you get the horn button?
